Life is full of ‘little’ things that as you grow older become bigger and more important. For example, the time you spent raising your children becomes more important as you see them grow and become adults. You look back on those growing up times and realize how significant and wonderful they were. When you were in them they didn’t seem such a big deal.
So don’t poo poo the little things in life. Together they make up wonderful memories that you will cherish as you reflect back.
As a society we seem to spend much of our lives proving things… proving how successful we are, how much money we make, how great our kids/animals are, what a perfect life we have…fill in whatever comes to mind. You get my drift!
We need to spend more time living, enjoying life, our families, friends, people we don’t know. Spending our time being kind and patient. Enjoying sunsets, staring out the window, or being quiet to name a few things.
I know when my phone or computer are acting up I turn them off and let them ‘reboot.’ Not a bad idea for us humans too.
Sometimes we just get too much information or have too much going on. That is the time to unplug, reboot and take some time to yourself which is NEVER a bad thing.
So when you are feeling overwhelmed, turn off your phone, computer or whatever you are doing. Find a quiet place and just sit and enjoy!
We have all experienced up and downs in our lives. It is only natural. No one’s life if perfect but advertising and the movies try to suck us in to believe that everyone leads perfect lives.
There are always going to be down, sad, happy, ordinary, routine and mundane days. It is what makes us human. The important thing is to know this and understand that every day we have on this planet is a gift. Life is beautiful, live it to its fullest no matter what kind of day you are having.
Hold on to those days that are amazing, breathe and relax on those days that are not amazing. Rejoice no matter what is happening in your life.
Has this ever happened to you? It has for me!
I have been with several friends lately where we have been laughing, talking and sharing and then I realize how much I enjoy their company and who they are. One of the best feelings.
Have you ever realized this?
That’s right.. none of us are getting out of here alive so why not enjoy ourselves.
We seem to be a society that ‘waits.’ We wait to take vacation because there is so much to do at work, we wait to retire because we think we need that extra bit of money or we don’t know what we would do, or we wait to forgive because we can do that another day.
And my question is, ‘why wait?’ You don’t know what tomorrow will bring so it seems to me we need to live each day to its fullest!
In our busy society we sometimes forgot to enjoy the simple things. I would like to challenge you all to spend 5 minutes just enjoying something. It could be a flower, a sunset, a cup of coffee, or your pet.
The trick is being 100% present and paying attention to that one thing for 5 minutes. I think you will be surprised at how much you enjoy it.
Let me know what you enjoyed!
